Blueberry Ginger Milkshake

A blueberry milkshake with a grown-up edge

Frozen blueberries, ice cream, milk: the base is exactly what you'd expect from a blueberry milkshake. What changes it is a splash of Gem Juice Apple stirred in at the end, a warm, spicy ginger kick threading through the sweetness so the whole glass tastes less like a kids' drink and more like something you'd actually crave. Still thick, still cold, just with a spine.

Why Apple carries the sweetness

Frozen blueberries turn syrupy fast, and most milkshakes lean on extra sugar to round that out. Gem Juice Apple does it differently: its own natural sweetness plus a spicy ginger edge, so there's nothing else to add. Want more of that ginger lift? Adjust with a touch more once it's blended, to taste, rather than pouring in more at the start.

What you need

Serves 3

  • 225g frozen blueberries
  • 3 scoops vanilla ice cream (or 300g Greek yogurt for a lighter version)
  • 225ml milk or oat milk
  • 5cl Gem Juice Apple, well chilled
  • Honey, only if the blueberries are on the sour side

How to make it

  1. Blend the blueberries, ice cream and milk until smooth and thick.
  2. Add the Gem Juice Apple last, then pulse twice, just enough to fold it in so the ginger keeps its lift.
  3. Taste, and stir in a little honey only if the blueberries need it.
  4. Pour into three glasses and top with a handful of whole blueberries.

Tip: Serve it straight after blending, before the ice cream has time to separate. Too thick to pour? Loosen it with a splash more milk rather than more Gem Juice Apple, a little goes a long way.

Made with Gem Juice Apple. No added sugars, no preservatives, produced in Belgium.
